Amelia (Ortiz) Rivera

Amelia Rivera (nee Ortiz), of Philadelphia passed away on May 30, 2022 at the age of 94.  She was born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico but was a lifelong resident of the city of Philadelphia. She was the devoted wife of the late Antonio Rivera for 60 years; the beloved mother of Zoraida Rivera Olmo, Nidia Mezalick (Michael),  Anita Luciani (Robert), Evelyn Rivera Cohen, and Delia Rivera Gualberto.  She leaves behind an impressive legacy in her adoring grandchildren (13), great-grandchildren (11), and great-great-grandchildren (6) with another one on the way.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 10, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with Mass to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Visitation BVM Church, B Street and Lehigh Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19125,  followed by interment at New Cathedral Cemetery, Front and Luzerne Streets,  Philadelphia, PA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions, in memory of Amelia Rivera, to be sent to St. Joseph Manor “The Evergreens”, 521 Moredon Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA  19006.
