Angelo T. Orsini of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away on May 9, 2024. Angelo was born in Philadelphia on October 19,
1936, to Norberto and Edna (nee Lutter). Angelo was the second of four children (all sisters) and had numerous older
half brothers and sisters. He began his life in west Philadelphia but moved to his beloved Mount Laurel as a young
teenager. It was there that he spent 73 of his 87 years. Angelo lost his mother when he was just 14 and helped to raise
his two younger sisters. While faced with many adult responsibilities at a very young age, he still found time for his
favorite pastime – playing baseball.
After high school, Angelo enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Korea during the post-war peace-keeping mission.
Upon his return, Angelo earned an associate degree in accounting at Pierce Junior College. He began working at US
Pipe and Foundry and eventually worked his way up to Production Control Supervisor. After US Pipe closed its doors,
Angelo continued his working career at the US Postal Service. He started his USPS profession breaking down and
sorting mail, but ultimately became a window clerk at the Mount Laurel post office and was known to many in the
town.
It was at US Pipe in 1972 that one of his co-workers convinced Angelo to go on a blind date with his wife’s friend.
Eleven months after Angelo’s blind date with Josephine L. Naccarato, the two were wed. Angelo recently said that this
was the moment when his life really began. Family was the most important thing to Angelo throughout his life and he
and Josephine were overjoyed to celebrate fifty years of marriage in October 2023.
Angelo was a devoted father to daughter Faith A. and son Mark A. (along with Eleanor) and beloved grandfather to
grandsons Thomas J. and Michael F. He also leaves behind his loving in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Many who met Angelo thought him to be quiet and reserved, and many count him as one of the kindest and gentlest
people they met. Those who were close to him know of his love of good music (which, according to him, stopped
being recorded sometime in the 1960s) and may have even heard him sing a tune from the 1930s or 40s in an almost
professional singer’s voice. All of his friends and family know of his passion for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles
and his frequent jest that no matter how well the teams were doing, they would find a way to mess it up. When there
wasn’t a game on, Angelo always managed to find a familiar old western movie on TV.
While Angelo was often serious, he did enjoy a good joke (or a well-worn dad joke). Most of his doctors learned the
hard way to ask if he could already play the piano before they answered whether he’d be able to do so after his surgery.
Those people who had the privilege of working on a project with Angelo knew that it was important to read every
direction and they also knew that “a job well planned is a job half done.”
Of all the ways he could spend his time, Angelo most enjoyed spending it with family and friends. Later in life,
Angelo’s favorite pastime was his Tuesday breakfasts with the ROMEO club (Retired Old Men Eating Out). Those
breakfasts meant more to him than any of the other ROMEOs probably know. He would never pass up a chance to
spend time with his children and eventually his grandchildren (for whom he even turned off the Phillies game). If ever
asked about his proudest accomplishments in life, Angelo would always point to the success of his children. More than
all other things that he was to so many people, Angelo was a loving and devoted husband, dad, and grandpop.
