Francis Michael Benincasa, 62, passed away on August 11, 2021, in his beloved beach town of Ocean View, DE, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Francis and Antoinette (nee Colucci) Benincasa on January 6, 1959 in Philadelphia, PA, and was a loving older brother to Teresa (Michael) and David (Carla). He will be remembered as “Hank:” a reliable friend, a loyal Philly sports fan, and a hard worker who could fix anything. Hank earned his Bachelor’s degree from Villanova University (Class of 1980), and was a successful business professional and dedicated family man.
Hank was preceded in death by his father, Francis, and his mother-in-law, Brigid. Hank is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Maureen (née McCaffery). He was a proud dad to three brown-eyed girls: Chelsea, Nicole (John), and Brigid (Travis), and a playful Pop Pop to Chelsea’s two incredible children: Molly and Max. His legacy will live on in his children and grandchildren, including his newest grandson arriving in December to Brigid and Travis. He will truly be missed by his large extended family and friends.
Hank will be celebrated on August 17, 2021, during mass at his childhood church, Our Lady of Consolation, in Tacony at 11:00 am. Mass will be preceded by visiting hours from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM. By request of the family COVID-19-vaccinated only. Please wear a mask. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hank’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or you can simply check the air pressure in your tires.
