Michael E McGowan

Michael E McGowan passed away November 5, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Nicole (nee Nolen), loving father of Rocco, Gia, Michael, Courtney, and Alicia, and grandfather of Jamie and Harrison. He was the son of Anthony Sr. and Kathleen (nee Doyle) and the brother of Anthony Jr., Kelly Voll (Mike), and Timothy. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Mike grew up in the Tacony section of Northeast Philadelphia. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1997 and then attended Orleans Technical Institute where he obtained a degree in building maintenance. Mike started working in construction as a teenager which then became his career for the next 28 years.

Mike became a father at the age of 17 to a son, Michael Jr., in 1996. He went on to have Courtney Brooke at the age of 26 in 2005.

In 2007 he met the love of his life, his wife Nicole. They had a deep love that connected them for life, she was his soul mate. It was obvious to anyone who knew them that this was a love some people never get to experience in a lifetime. A once in a lifetime love.

They married on May 7, 2010 at St. Anselm Church in the Parkwood section of Northeast Philadelphia. They settled in the area and purchased their home in the same  neighborhood in 2014. In 2015, they welcomed their first child together, a son, Rocco William. Their daughter Gia Paige arrived in 2018 to complete their family. So they thought.

In September of 2021, Mike found out he had another daughter, 21 year old Alicia. They had an instant connection and she became the final piece of their family that they didn't even know was missing.

Mike loved hard. He loved his wife and children like no other. He was the kindest, sweetest soul on the planet. His heart was made of gold and if you knew him, you know this to be true. He was the definition of a true gentleman.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday evening, November 14th, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Joseph A. Sannutti Funeral Home, 7101 Torresdale Ave., Phila., PA 19135. The family will recieve relatives and friends also on Tuesday morning, November 15th, from 9:30 to 10:30, with Mass to begin at 10:30 , at St. Anselm Church, 12670 Dunks Ferry Rd., Phila., PA 19154. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
