Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing and Funeral Mass on Wednesday, June 17th, at St. Cecelia's Catholic Church, 535 Rhawn St. Phila., PA 19111. Viewing from 9:30 to 10:15 AM, and Mass begins at 10:30 AM. Interment private.

Robert John Nemo, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on October 4,
1950, in New Haven, Connecticut, Robert was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Nemo. Brother to Linda and Lou Damiano, John and Barbara Nemo, Sharon and Jeffery. He was raised in
the Tacony section of Philadelphia, where he attended Saint Leo's Parish and developed the deep faith and strong sense of community that would guide him throughout his life.

Robert was the devoted husband of Dawn Nemo (Schmidt), whom he married on January 6, 2006. Dawn was truly the love of his life, and together they shared a marriage rooted in faith, friendship, laughter, and unwavering devotion. Robert cherished every moment they spent together, whether attending Mass, sharing time with family and friends, or simply enjoying each other's company. He often spoke of the blessings God had given him, and among the greatest of those blessings was his beloved Dawn. Their love was a testament to the beauty of companionship, sacrifice, and God's providence.

He was a loving father to Jonathan, and Carolina, and a cherished loved one to Amanda and Karma. He also was the step father of Angelina Clookey. Robert's love for his children knew no bounds. He worked tirelessly, often putting the needs of his family before his own, because providing for and caring for his children was one of his greatest callings. Robert held a particularly deep pride in his son, Jonathan. Throughout Jonathan's life, Robert made countless sacrifices to ensure his son had every opportunity to succeed and build a good life. Nothing brought Robert more joy than witnessing the man Jonathan became. He spoke often of his son with admiration and gratitude, taking immense pride not only in Jonathan's accomplishments but also in his character, integrity, and faith. The bond they shared was one of deep love, mutual respect, and unwavering support.

Nothing brought Robert greater joy than his family, especially his beloved grandchildren, Henry and Cecilia Marie. He adored them and cherished every moment spent with them, particularly the walks they shared together. He is also survived by his brother, John Nemo; his sister, Linda Damiano; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whom he loved deeply.

A proud employee of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Robert dedicated many years of service to his work before retiring from a career he genuinely enjoyed. Never
one to stop growing, Robert returned to school in his thirties to pursue a college education. Though he often admitted that he was nervous and unsure of his abilities, he embraced the
challenge with determination and perseverance. His hard work paid off as he earned a degree in Psychology from the Community College of Philadelphia and achieved Dean's List honors for his exceptional academic performance.

Among Robert's greatest accomplishments was his remarkable journey of recovery. Blessed with 48 years of sobriety, he considered this gift one of the greatest blessings of his life. Through countless meetings, conversations, and acts of encouragement, Robert helped many men and women find hope, healing, and a path forward. Just as others guide him, he dedicated himself to helping others. For many years, he faithfully served at the Mother of Perpetual Help House, a sober living home for men, where he offered guidance, encouragement, accountability, and hope to those striving to rebuild their lives. His ministry of presence and service touched countless individuals, many of whom found in Robert a mentor, friend, and living example of the transformative power of recovery.

Over the years, he witnessed the passing of many friends, mentors, and fellow travelers on that journey, yet he never allowed their memories to fade. Their stories lived on through him, shared around meeting tables and cups of coffee, ensuring their legacies continued to inspire others. Faith was the cornerstone of Robert;s life. He was a faithful member of Saint Leo's Parish in his youth and later became an active parishioner at Saint Cecilia Parish in Fox Chase, where he continued to deepen his relationship with Jesus. He faithfully participated in the Monday Night Rosary for decades and was a devoted Man of Malvern for 48 years. His sacramental life and commitment to prayer sustained him through every season of life.

It is difficult to overstate the importance of both his faith and sobriety. Robert respected the beliefs and choices of others while remaining steadfast in his convictions. He was never afraid to speak the truth when it was needed, always motivated by genuine love and concern for those around him. Through his faith, wisdom, honesty, and compassion, he touched countless lives and, in many cases, helped save them.

Robert will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to God, his deep love for Dawn and his family, his loyalty to his friends, and his desire to help others become the best version of themselves. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the faith he faithfully lived.

May he rest in the peace of Christ and may his memory be eternal.
